Cold Asparagus Cappuccino

Asparagus juice sounds weird, doesn't it? You can call it a cold asparagus cappuccino if that sounds better, just try it.

It's an awesome juice with a mild  flavour that packs a healthy punch.
 I have juiced an entire bunch of asparagus along with an apple and a small cucumber.

Jack Lalanne was the original fitness guru and the first person to have a workout show on TV. I remember as kids we all did his workouts at least for a few minutes. I  liked the one with arms straight out and twist right, then twist left. He was pretty "out" there in the 60's. Those were the days everyone smoked everyplace and a good cocktail was all you needed for good livin'.

Jack did alright. He lived to be 96 years old and believed in juicing everything.

I have a Jack Lalanne Juicer and it has served me well over the years. If you don't have one you just might want to consider getting one.

You need:
  • a bunch of asparagus- wash & cut off a tiny bit of the growing end
  • 1-2 small cucumbers-washed
  • 1 apple- washed (chopped but not peeled or cored)
  • a juicer

This makes 2 drinks one for you and one for your honey! Make it and drink it immediately for the most enzymes and nutritional benefit. It's easy on your stomach and tastes very pleasant. 

Why would you want to juice/eat asparagus?

Asparagus is in season right now so it's easily available and cost effective. The very best way to get the most from your fruits and vegetables is to eat them raw.  Juicing is a great way to get a large amount of fresh product in an easily digestible form.

Asparagus is a diuretic, an antioxidant, high in protein, vitamin C, vitamin E, iron, calcium, selenium, manganese, copper, potassium, phosphorus, folate, niacin, riboflavin, thiamin, magnesium and zinc.

The asparagus and the cucumber are both very alkaline foods and drinking this is a great kidney flush. 
 It will do you good to drink this periodically. It can make your urine smell (only some people can detect that smell by the way) but it is normal and will go away within in a few hours.

It's Spring do something healthy and cleansing! It might just start some other healthy habit.
